Release Date Roundup: March 26th

Here’s a quick roundup of three upcoming indie games that just announced release dates. I’ve been waiting to hear about these games for a while, so hopefully, this is exciting news for you too! Maybe I’ll make “Release Date Roundup” into a series, but no promises!

Animal Well - May 9th

The highly anticipated game, Animal Well from developer Billy Basso and Shared Memory, finally announced a release date. The gloomy, atmospheric metroidvania will release in less than two months on May 9th. This unique indie title takes the player through a deep well full of strange creatures, puzzles, and clever interactions. While not usually my cup of tea, I am excitedly looking forward to exploring these strange depths.

Hauntii - May 23rd

Hauntii is a beautifully haunting story of a small ghost exploring the afterlife, trying to reconnect with an angel who was almost able to pull them out of the underworld. Thankfully, I did get to try a demo for Hauntii during the February Steam Next Fest last month, and between exploring the hand-drawn world and solving puzzles by possessing objects, it did not disappoint. I’ve been waiting to hear more about developer Moonloop Games’ debut title since last year’s Summer Game Fest when I first laid eyes on it, so it’s exciting to have a release date less than two months away.

Still Wakes the Deep - June 18th

While this release date is the furthest out of these three, it doesn’t make it any less exciting. Still Wakes the Deep from developer The Chinese Room puts the player into a terrifying situation, a collapsing oil rig off the coast of Scotland, with a mysterious otherworldly creature causing havoc. It’s strange to be excited about having a horrifying experience, but that’s just the life of someone who likes playing horror games.

Which one looks exciting to you? Feel free to leave a comment below!
