Gameplay Recap: Week of 2/20/24

I plan to have this be an ongoing series of short updates on what games I have been playing in my spare time lately. I try to play multiplayer games online with friends at least once a week, but this will also be the place to catch a glimpse of what reviews I might be working on. I am unsure how often this will be updated, maybe every few weeks or every month. It might come down to whether I’m trying out something new.

So here’s a quick recap of what I’ve been playing.

Sons of the Forest by developer Endnight Games

Lethal Company by developer Zeekerss

With Friends

Sons of the Forest - I have mentioned how I am not a fan of most games with survival mechanics, but Endnight Games did something special with Sons of the Forest. It’s still in early access, but the full release is coming up, and I’m excited about what additions will be included. My group’s most recent event was stumbling upon some golf carts and ultimately discovering they were the ultimate all-terrain vehicle. We drove that cart all the way to the top of the mountain, where we all eventually fell to our collective deaths, but man, what a ride.

Don’t try this at home.

Well, try the game, just don’t do this in real life.

Lethal Company - I cannot get over how simple yet perfect Lethal Company is. I have felt that horror and comedy have always shared some of the same DNA, but I don’t know if there is any game that puts them together so well. Maybe Among Us was the last to get this close. Not only is the game fun and funny, but it also has some great worldbuilding, something that’s a surefire way to get me invested.

On My Own

Cassette Beasts - This game is an absolute joy. It takes everything I love about creature collectors but strips away the things that always gave me pause. I am only a few hours in but itching to play more.

DEMOS - Read about all the demos I’ve been checking out lately in this article.
